“It is not commonly acknowledged that, at times, life can feel harder when we begin doing the work versus before we start. Whether it is contention in relationships due to healthier boundaries or the exhaustion that hits when our bodies finally feel safe for the first time, I often see clients struggling to cope with new hurdles presented on their healing journey or a perceived lack of progress. Not only is compassion necessary when diffusing the power struggles within ourselves to achieve self-acceptance and love but it is also needed when being faced with the discomforts that arise when we begin the process of embodying a more authentic self.” - Jerrica Lavooy, LCSW.
In this workshop, we will discuss the common traits we develop to maintain connection and protection, how they may harm us, and why it is so difficult to change our behaviors and patterns. We will also begin to understand how the roles we embody may be maintaining our stressed state and how compassion is our greatest tool in achieving a calmer nervous system.
